Social
Kappas keep busy with school and community service, but after all that work, we still find time for fun. Being sociable is one of the best things about being a Kappa. Every year we have three formals. In the Fall, we have Presents Formal as a big welcome for the new members. We have Kappa Kouples, where each girl and her date get to dress up as any famous couple, in Winter quarter. Finally, we have Sapphire Ball in Spring. This is our final, most anticipated event of the year and a great send-off to our wonderful seniors.
Not only do we have formals and cocktails, but we have a jammed-packed social calendar full of themed social events with UCD fraternities and sports teams. Some of the most recent themes we’ve had have been:
“80’s Prom”
“Mortify Your Mother”
“The Letter B”
“Viva Las Vegas!”
“Destination Unknown”
“Nurses and Ninjas”
…and many, many more!
To add to those fun activities, Kappa also plans two events a year with another sorority on campus called Monmouth Duo. These meetings allow us to bond with other Greeks on campus and celebrate our mutual beginnings at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. Biker Bash is one of these events!
Last but definitely not least, Kappa members enjoy Mother-Daughter and Father-Daughter events, Key Sis Week and roadtrips to Lake Shasta for Memorial Day’s Houseboats Weekend and to visit other Kappas at UC Santa Barbara!
